RENEW/RECYCLE INITIATIVE

Our Renew/Recycle initiative focuses on reinvestment in the brand to renew aging components of the business, and to implement reduce/reuse/recycle practices, wherever possible.

We’ve been in the barbecue business since 1941, and we’ve loved serving so many folks our Legit. Texas. Barbecue. We value being involved in our local communities. And, we love supporting first responders through the Dickey Foundation. We want to make sure our beloved brand continues to age well and is around for another 80 years.

Therefore, we’re undertaking a Renew/Recycle initiative to reinvest where needed, recycle where possible, and reduce our environmental impact when we can.

Our planned initiatives include:

  • launching a system-wide recycling program with in-store recycle bins
  • sharing more about our ‘No BS (bad stuff)’ commitment in our food, such as our nitrate-free sausage and antibiotic-free chicken
  • reworking our chemicals program to maximize sanitation, while minimizing environmental impact
  • launching a system-wide food waste program to donate food to food-insecure folks via community partners
  • launching with the Dickey Foundation the ‘Feeding First Responders’ program
  • upgrading technology within our restaurants with new payment processing terminals for enhanced guest payment security
  • reworking our packaging to reduce environmental impact

Our Big Yellow Cup is recyclable, although we hope you take it home and reuse it often. We’re aiming to make all our packaging recyclable. And we’re working to bring recycling to our restaurant dining rooms this year. We’ve opted not to raise overall menu prices to cover the additional expenses of the renew/recycle program; the large majority of the costs of these initiatives are covered by Dickey’s Barbecue, but we have implemented a single $0.39 recycle fee to guest checks.

We appreciate our guests and want folks to know we are committed to being good stewards within the communities in which we do business. We appreciate folks investing with us by choosing to enjoy Dickey’s Barbecue.
